Jean-Yves Ollivier, an international negotiator who has been working for six months to put the talks together, said this in an interview with AP, according to Ukrinform.
The African delegation is expected to consist of the presidents of six countries - South Africa, Senegal, Egypt, Republic of Congo, Uganda and Zambia.
The talks will likely be next month, Ollivier said.
According to him, African leaders will also discuss the related issue of easing the passage of more grain shipments out of Ukraine amid the war and the possibility of more prisoner swaps.
Ollivier arrived in Moscow on Sunday and will also go to Kyiv for meetings with high-level officials to work out "logistics" for the upcoming talks.
President of South Africa Cyril Ramaphosa said last week that African countries would propose a peace initiative to end Russia's war against Ukraine.
On May 12, Ramaphosa held talks with Vladimir Putin, and the next day he spoke with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
On May 13, Zelensky called on t Ramaphosa to support the Ukrainian Peace Formula and join in its implementation.
