Reznikov: We already see the line of those willing to get us to reconcile with Russia
This was stated by Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov, who spoke at a Kyiv forum on the restoration of Ukraine on Thursday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
"We already see the line of those willing to get us to reconcile with Russia. They line up, leaders of different countries. Mostly these are countries that are not completely, not fully democratic," defense minister said.
According to Reznikov, China, in particular, seeks to show its unique role. "And that's why there is now a competition to become a mediator. But there is one nuance – they all want to be mediators on the side of Russia. And that's why such mediation definitely doesn’t suit us. That’s because they offer no real independent mediation, so we’ll wait. We will be achieving wins," top defense official concluded.
As reported earlier, speaking at the Shangri-La Dialogue security forum in Singapore, Reznikov rejected the "peace plan" proposed by his counterpart from Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto. According to the minister, "this looks like a Russian plan, not an Indonesian one." Reznikov put forward the idea that China might be able to persuade Russia to end the war as Moscow's "big brother".
