UNDP together with partners accumulates $1B for Ukraine's recovery - PM

Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal said this on Facebook, citing UNDP head Achim Steiner, Ukrinform reports.

The relevant statement Steiner made during a visit to Kyiv. For his part, the Prime Minister thanked the United Nations Development Program for "this timely step."

During the meeting, Shmyhal discussed with the UNDP head the needs of Ukraine for rapid reconstruction and humanitarian demining, as well as support for relocated enterprises and small and medium-sized entrepreneurs who lost their businesses during the war and want to start from scratch.

According to Shmyhal, UNDP is ready to help in these matters. In particular, initiatives are being prepared to train and retrain entrepreneurs and develop potentially exportable industries.

UNDP will also support the restoration of energy infrastructure.

"I am grateful to the United Nations Development Program for its consistent assistance throughout the full-scale war and for facilitating the implementation of the government's urgent recovery priorities," the Prime Minister emphasized.

As Ukrinform reported, the US government recently announced a new humanitarian support package for Ukraine. The amount of this aid will be $205 million.
