Reznikov discusses ‘grain agreement’, humanitarian aid with Türkiye's minister of defense
“Had a meaningful call with the Minister of National Defence of Türkiye General Yaşar Güler. In these difficult times when Ukraine is confronting russian aggression, we are grateful to the Republic of Türkiye for humanitarian assistance. We are grateful for Türkiye's leadership in the Black Sea Grain Initiative,” Reznikov posted on Twitter.
He noted that Ukraine looks forward to further developing the strategic partnership with Türkiye and enhancing cooperation to restore regional security and stability.
As reported, Russia threatens to withdraw from the grain agreement if it fails to resume ammonia deliveries through the Togliatti-Odesa pipeline and partially lift restrictions on its own exports.
The Government of Ukraine stated that the Russian side actually blocked the grain initiative. The Russian Federation openly sabotages the inspection of vessels, thus reducing the throughput capacity of the corridor to less than 20% of what is possible.
Russia confirmed its commitment to the agreement at the end of May, extending its operation for 60 days – until July 17.
The grain agreement was concluded in July last year with the participation of Ukraine, Türkiye, and the UN and separately – Türkiye, the UN, and Russia. The agreements guarantee the safe passage of vessels with Ukrainian grain, their observance is ensured by the Joint Coordination Center in Istanbul, which includes representatives of all parties.
