President Zelensky: We must be confident that Ukraine will become NATO member after war
The relevant statement was made by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky during a joint press conference with President of the Republic of Poland Andrzej Duda and President of the Republic of Lithuania Gitanas Nausėda in Kyiv, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“If the Alliance wants to be powerful and does not see its existence without Ukraine, it is fair that we want to get at least some modality of our future in NATO, some specific things. We are asking for such specific things. We are not talking about today’s membership, I emphasize once again: we are an adequate state and understand that during the war we cannot become a member of NATO, but we must be confident that after the war we will be. And this is exactly the signal we want to receive, that after the war Ukraine will be a member of NATO,” Zelensky noted.
For now, while Ukraine is not a member of NATO, it should receive security guarantees, the Head of State mentioned.
A reminder that the NATO Summit will take place in Vilnius on July 11-12, 2023.
