NATO should create a clear and understandable path for Ukraine to join the Alliance.

Andrzej Duda, the President of Poland, said this at the NATO summit in Vilnius, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

"We must create a direct and clear path for Ukraine to join NATO," Duda said.

He noted that Poland cares about the interests of its eastern neighbor, Ukraine, which has been defending itself against Russian aggression for over a year.

"It is in our interest that Russia withdraws from the occupied territories of Ukraine and that international order is restored. We believe that NATO, as an alliance, will support Ukraine and pursue an effective policy," Duda emphasized.

He expressed hope that Sweden would soon become a NATO member. According to him, this will greatly strengthen NATO, especially in northern Europe.
