NATO Summit to show support for Ukraine’s membership ‘in very practical ways’ – Blinken
The relevant statement was made by U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken on ABC News, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“I think you are going to see a few things coming out of the Summit. First, a very robust package of support, both political and practical, for Ukraine,” Blinken said.
Second, in his words, when it comes to membership, “the Summit will take note of the progress that Ukraine has made, which has been significant”. At the same time, the Summit will focus on the fact that work remains to be done in terms of reforming Ukraine’s military sector, as well as reforming and strengthening the country’s democracy.
“So, all of that will be coming out of the Summit. But you’ve got a unified Alliance that is going to demonstrate, in very practical ways, its enduring support for Ukraine, including the path to membership,” Blinken noted.
A reminder that, on Tuesday, United States President Joseph Biden expressed support for a united message from the NATO Summit on the path forward for Ukraine and its membership in the Alliance.
