EU is ready to participate in providing security guarantees to Ukraine – Michel
President of the European Council Charles Michel said this before the start of the second day of the NATO summit in Vilnius, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
"It is extremely important to stay together to support Ukraine as much as we can. We have together with NATO and the EU an excellent cooperation. And we are working to let another for the EU to become more and more a security provider, in full coordination with NATO. ... We are ready to provide security guarantees to Ukraine and participate in all these efforts," Michel stressed.
He added that the EU also supports the just peace: "The just peace formula proposed by President Zelensky, based on the UN Charter and based on justice. There is no place for impunity (for Russian crimes in Ukraine - ed.)."
As reported, a two-day NATO summit is being held in Vilnius. Among the main are reinforcing the Alliance's deterrence and defense system and continuing support for Ukraine. The inaugural meeting of the new NATO-Ukraine Council will be held today with the participation of President Zelensky and the leaders of 31 allied countries and Sweden.
