Stefanchuk expects speakers of parliaments of Global South countries to visit Ukraine
"Global South: China, India, Indonesia, Türkiye, Brazil, Mexico, and others. I would be happy to welcome to Ukraine the heads of the parliaments of the mentioned countries, in particular newly elected speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye Numan Kurtulmuş who accepted the invitation to visit Kyiv," Stefanchuk said at the conference of Ukraine’s ambassadors, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
He noted that Ukraine's Independence Day could be the possible date for the visit of the Speaker of the Parliament of Türkiye. According to the Verkhovna Rada Chairman, it would be very symbolic. Stefanchuk asked the Embassy of Ukraine in Türkiye to work on the visit of Kurtulmuş to Ukraine.
The Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament also said that he had sent a letter to Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of the People's Republic of China Zhao Leji. At the same time, Stefanchuk called on Ambassador of Ukraine to China Pavlo Riabikin to work out further steps regarding Ukraine–China cooperation.
"I also count on further cooperation with the G20 countries. The G20 parliamentary summit is to be held in India this November. We have already received certain signals from Deputy Minister of External Affairs of India Sanjay Verma who recently visited Kyiv. I ask Ambassador Oleksandr Polishchuk to take this issue under special control," Stefanchuk added.
At the same time, he emphasized the need to strengthen the cooperation of the Verkhovna Rada with the parliaments of the countries of Africa, the Middle East, and Latin America – those regions where the Russian Federation continues to promote its narratives.
