Economy Ministry calls on Iraq to join implementation of Ukrainian Peace Formula

According to Ukrinform, the press service of the Ministry of Economy reported this following the talks between First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko and Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Iraq Fuad Hussein.

"Ukraine has two main tasks: to win the war and to launch the rapid reconstruction right now. The issue of humanitarian demining is critically important for us. We are interested in gaining experience and enlisting the assistance of partner countries. Ukraine considers the state of Iraq as an important international partner and hopes to exchange experience in the field of demining," said Svyrydenko.

She added that the main task of the Ukrainian government today is to launch the process of humanitarian demining, to attract as many specialists as possible who will work in this field, to search for special equipment abroad and to organize its own production in Ukraine. The government also expects that international partners will help in training demining specialists.

Separately, Svyrydenko invited the Iraqi side to join the implementation of Ukraine’s Peace Formula, in particular, its part regarding food security. She emphasized that the countries around the world should consolidate their efforts in order to overcome the food crisis, food products should be freely exported to countries that need them.

The parties also discussed the possibility of resuming the Ukrainian-Iraqi Joint Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation. In particular, Ukraine is interested in the import of hydrocarbons, as well as the launching of joint projects in the areas the Ukrainian government has identified as priorities - energy, reconstruction and construction of housing and critical infrastructure, humanitarian demining and economic recovery.

As reported by Ukrinform, President Volodymyr Zelensky emphasizes that the Peace Formula is an important platform for a fair end of the war that the Russian Federation has unleashed against Ukraine, but it can become a universal basis for ending other armed conflicts.
