NATO supports Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity – official
A NATO official said this in a comment to Ukraine's public broadcaster Suspilne, Ukrinform reports.
He said the military alliance would continue to support Ukraine for as long as it takes. NATO is committed to achieving a just and lasting peace, he added.
The official said that it is up to Ukraine to decide when and under what conditions to achieve peace. According to him, it is obvious that there is a need for security arrangements that would ensure that war does not happen again.
Stian Jenssen, the NATO secretary general's chief of staff, proposed on August 15 that Ukraine cede part of its territory to Russia in exchange for NATO membership in order to end the war.
The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry responded to this statement, calling such conversations unacceptable.
