New French ambassador arrives in Ukraine

"My mission as ambassador-designate to Ukraine begins. I am aware of how lucky I am to see myself entrusted with such a sensitive mission when this country is coping admirably with Russian aggression and the great responsibility that comes with it," Veyssiere said.
Former French Ambassador to Ukraine Etienne de Poncins wished his successor success during his term of office.
"Dear Gael Veyssiere, all my wishes for success with you in your magnificent, exciting and so crucial mission at the head of the French Embassy in Ukraine. The relay of solidarity and friendship between Ukraine and France has now been passed and is in your good hands," he wrote.
De Poncins is completing his diplomatic mission in Ukraine this summer.
