Greece supports Ukraine's membership in NATO when conditions set by Vilnius summit met

Ukraine and Greece signed a joint declaration of support for Ukraine’s Euro-Atlantic integration.

The signing ceremony took place within the framework of President Volodymyr Zelensky’s visit to Greece, Ukrinform reports with reference to the website of the Head of State.

"The Hellenic Republic supports Ukraine to become NATO Member when Allies agree and conditions are met, as stated in the NATO Vilnius Summit Declaration.," the declaration reads.

Greece also pledged to continue providing military, technical, defense, and humanitarian assistance to Ukraine.

In addition, Greece promised to participate together with international organizations, allies, and partners in the post-war recovery and reconstruction of Ukraine.

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis of Greece, following the meeting with President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine in Athens, told the media that Greece is ready to support Ukraine on the way to full membership in the European Union and NATO.

"Just as we supported granting Ukraine the status of a candidate country for EU membership, today I once again declare our readiness to support your European path," said Mitsotakis.

He also recalled that Greece recently joined the joint declaration of G7 leaders on providing security guarantees to Ukraine.

"Furthermore, you and I signed a joint declaration regarding Ukraine's Euro-Atlantic course, which serves as another proof that we are your supporters and companions," assured the Prime Minister of Greece.

The head of the Greek government noted that since the outset of Russia’s full-scale invasion, Greece has in practice shown humanitarian and defense solidarity with Ukraine. According to him, this will continue in the future.
