Zelensky thanks Trudeau for his address at Crimea Platform Summit, support for Ukraine
The relevant statement was made by the Head of State on the social media platform X, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“Friendly call with Justin Trudeau. Many thanks for today’s sincere congratulations and a powerful address at the Crimea Platform Summit,” Zelensky wrote.
The President of Ukraine mentioned that Canada was among the first to recognize Ukraine’s independence and it continues to be among leaders in support during these difficult times.
The Office of the President of Ukraine posted a video of the phone call on Telegram.
Trudeau noted that Canada will continue to provide support for Ukraine for as long as it takes.
Zelensky emphasized that the two countries had been close friends and strong partners since 1991 and continue to stand together in these tough times. The President of Ukraine added that he expects to meet with the Prime Minister of Canada in the near future.
Trudeau replied that he is also looking forward to their meeting and expressed disappointment over the fact that Zelensky would not be present at the G20 Summit. Nevertheless, in his words, all countries will be speaking up for Ukraine at the Summit and will be looking for further ways to support the Ukrainian people.
