Shmyhal thanks Norwegian PM for military, financial support
The head of the Ukrainian government said this in a post on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.
"Thanked for the unwavering support for Ukraine: military, financial, sanctions. In particular, for the five-year program of military and humanitarian aid worth EUR 7 billion. Special gratitude for the recently announced missiles for the IRIS-T air defense system, the opportunity to receive additional F-16 aircraft, funds to purchase gas for winter, resources for the humanitarian sector," Shmyhal wrote.
According to him, Ukraine appreciates Norway's contribution to the protection of Ukrainian skies from Russian attacks. This is what Ukrainians need most.
At the meeting, Prime Ministers also touched upon the issue of food security and the functioning of the grain corridor. They discussed Norway's participation in reconstruction and support programs for small and medium-sized businesses.
"Jonas Gahr Støre noted that Norway will continue to help Ukraine in energy, humanitarian demining, and participate in reconstruction. Norway supports EU sanctions against Russia and President Volodymyr Zelensky's Peace Formula," Shmyhal added.
As reported by Ukrinform, at a joint press conference with President Volodymyr Zelensky on August 24, Prime Minister of Norway Jonas Gahr Støre stated that his country will send two F-16 fighter jets for the training of Ukrainian pilots and consider the possibility of providing more aircraft. Norway also intends to accelerate the production of NASAMS systems and will try to convince its partners to transfer the systems they have to Ukraine.
