Declaration of Crimea Platform Summit highlights need of further strengthening Russia sanctions - Stefanchuk
This was reported by the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Ruslan Stefanchuk, on Facebook, Ukrinform saw.
“The joint declaration of participants in the Second Parliamentary Summit of the International Crimea Platform. In the final document, the participants in the summit stressed that the restoration of Ukraine's territorial integrity in its internationally recognized borders, including the de-occupation of Crimea and Sevastopol, as well as ensuring the state sovereignty of Ukraine, is a fundamental prerequisite for ending the war and establishing a lasting peace in the region,” Stefanchuk wrote.
In addition, the declaration of parliamentarians condemned as void the sham "referendums" and "elections" Russia held in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.
Politicians also condemned Russia's withdrawal from the Black Sea Grain Initiative, systematic attacks on export infrastructure, threats to commercial navigation, as well as blockade of Ukrainian seaports, which threatens the global food security.
At the same time, according to Stefanchuk, the participants declared their intention to support the provision of political, diplomatic, military, security, financial, humanitarian, and other assistance to Ukraine, as well as provide Ukraine with all the necessary assistance to achieve EU membership.
In particular, lawmakers have expressed their intention to maintain and continue to strengthen sanctions against the Russian Federation, take diplomatic, economic, and other measures to exert pressure on Russia, as well as counter sanctions evasion.
According to Ukrinform, the second parliamentary summit of the International Crimea Platform is held on Tuesday in Prague.
The purpose of the platform is to reaffirm international support for Ukraine and attract the attention of the international community to the situation of the Crimean peninsula, which was occupied by Russia in violation of international law in 2014.
The first parliamentary summit was held last year in the Croatian Zagreb.
