It makes sense to support Ukraine now to prevent future crisis - Kuleba

If the West stops supporting Ukraine now, Russia will be able to succeed on the battlefield and then the aid will have to be restored due to strong public reactions.

This was stated by the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba, who spoke in an interview with El Pais, Ukrinform reports.

“If one decides to suspend or withhold support now, because of the lack of resources, Russia will be able to succeed on the battlefield and break through the lines. Providing Ukraine with support will have to be resumed because there will be a very strong public reaction in favor of supporting Ukraine," the head of Ukrainian diplomacy said in response to a question about the Republicans in Congress blocking $61 billion in security assistance to Ukraine.

Kuleba is sure that, if the current developments prevail, “the same politicians who decided to withhold that support will be making the decision to provide it, but in much more difficult circumstances”.

The foreign minister concluded that even from a rational point of view and a realistic policy, “it makes more sense to provide assistance now in order to avoid a crisis in the future”.

In addition, the top diplomat assured that Ukraine would continue the fight employing all available resources because democracy, security, and prosperity are at stake for the whole world, while for Ukraine itself – it is the very existence of the nation.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, Dmytro Kuleba previously said Ukraine believes in continued support on the part of Western partners, and that the nation has no Plan B for the war with Russia.
