Putin does not want peace with Ukraine - Zelensky

Ukrinform
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said that Russian President Volodymyr Putin wants to occupy all of Ukraine and never wanted peace.

The head of state said this in an interview with Channel 4 News, Ukrinform reports.

"He [Putin] does not want any peace with Ukraine," Zelensky said.

He also stated that he could not imagine signing a peace agreement, according to which the temporarily occupied territory of Donbas and Crimea would be part of Russia.

"If we want to stop him [Putin], if the world does not want it to happen again, so that there is no such aggression in a few years, then it is better to deal with it now," Zelensky said.

He also added: "If we really want to have peace in Europe - not only in Ukraine, but also in Ukraine and in Europe - we all need to understand that Ukraine is truly independent."

At the same time, he noted that "of course, it is better to find a political way to return our independence."
