Problems in Middle East not to hamper EU’s strong support for Ukraine
The EU High Representative, Josep Borrell, said this in Brussels at the EU foreign ministerial doorstep, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
"Ukraine is the first item on the agenda. The fact that we are engaged and loking for a solution in the Middle East does not mean that we are not continuing supporting Ukraine. The first meeting will be with the Foreign Affairs Minister of Ukraine... And the Gymnich meeting will be a specific meeting of the defense ministers to discuss boosting our support. So don't worry. Ukraine have nothing to worry (about – ed.). European support continues as strong as ever. And it will continue," Borrell said.
He emphasized that the ministers will hold a meeting with representatives of Israel and Arab countries to discuss a solution to the conflict in the Middle East based on the "two-state" principle.
He noted that the Council will see many important guests, including the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Israel, representatives of the diplomatic initiative of Islamic and Arab countries - Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Jordan, the Secretary General of the Arab League, and the UN humanitarian aid coordinator. After that, during a separate session, European ministers will hold a meeting with the Palestinian Foreign Minister. According to Borrell, representatives of all parties and countries directly affected by the conflict in Gaza will meet in Brussels today.
As reported, the EU foreign ministerial is taking place in Brussels today, which will consider two main topics – the continuation of aid to Ukraine and the search for a solution to the war in Gaza. The Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba, will take part in the first session of the meeting via video link.
