Russia continues to use UN to spread propaganda - ISW

Russia continues to use its position in the UN Security Council to promote its information operations.

This is stated in a report by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), Ukrinform reports.

"Russia's request for a UN Security Council meeting on January 22 to discuss arms supplies to Ukraine and Lavrov's use of this meeting to promote various Kremlin information operations is likely an attempt to legitimize these Kremlin narratives, as well as to promote them on the world stage and convince Ukraine's international partners to stop supplying weapons to Ukraine," the report says.

It is noted that Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov spoke at a meeting of the UN Security Council convened by Russia on January 22 and accused the West of the lack of negotiations, saying that Russia has always been "ready for negotiations."

As Ukrinform reported, on Monday, about fifty UN countries issued a statement pointing to the hypocrisy of the Russian Federation for convening a regular meeting of the UN Security Council to criticize the legal supply of weapons to Ukraine.
