Stefanchuk, Cox talk Ukraine’s European integration
That’s according to Stefanchuk’s posting on Facebook.
Stefanchuk thanked Cox for the successful holding of " Jean Monnet Dialogues" in Ukraine late last year.
"I especially emphasized that the Ukrainian parliament is ready to implement legislative changes in the matter of transforming the parliament into a transparent, accountable, and effective legislative institution, in line with the best European practices of parliamentarism," Stefanchuk said.
According to the Verkhovna Rada chairman, special attention was paid to Ukraine’s European integration.
"The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine plays one of the main roles in the process. Therefore, I hope for a high level of support in the issue of synchronizing Ukrainian legislation with the European one," Stefanchuk emphasized.
He also raised the issue of continued sanctions pressure on Russia. According Stefanchuk the 13th package of sanctions is currently being prepared.
Stefanchuk noted that it is important to introduce such restrictions against the Russian Federation that cannot be circumvented.
"Finally, I called for uniting efforts around continuing assistance to Ukraine – defense, financial, and humanitarian," the parliament speaker noted.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, on January 23, Deputy Chair of the Verkhovna Rada, Olena Kondratiuk, met with former President of the European Parliament Pat Cox. The parties discussed the importance of parliamentary diplomacy to expand international public focus on Ukraine.
