Despite Lavrov's request, UNSC not to discuss Il-76 incident on Wednesday

On Wednesday, the UN Security Council will not consider the issue of a Russian Il-76 military airlifter crash in Belgorod region despite the relevant request filed by Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, who is in New York.
That’s according to a source in the UNSC secretariat, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
Earlier this day, at a press conference, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Russia had demanded an urgent UNSC meeting, on Wednesday afternoon.
As it is assumed in diplomatic circles, Russia’s top diplomat intended to personally take part in the meeting while he is in New York.
However, France, which chairs the UN Security Council in January, did not grant Russia’s request. The matter may be considered no earlier than Thursday afternoon.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, Lavrov has been in New York since Monday and will fly out of the United States Wednesday night.
