Oleksandr Lytvynenko, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, met with foreign journalists on the eve of the Global Peace Summit.

That’s according to the NSDC press service, Ukrinform reports.

The meeting was attended by reporters from the U.S., Germany, the Netherlands, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, and Nicaragua.

"The purpose of the meeting is to convey to the widest possible international audience objective information about the developments in Ukraine, the true motives of the war unleashed by Russia, debunking Russian false historical narratives that justify aggression against a sovereign nation," the report reads.

During the meeting, Lytvynenko emphasized the importance of confronting Russian propaganda, which is actively spreading both in the West and in the Global South. He pointed out the need to debunk myths about so-called "fraternal nations" and other historical hoax stories circulated by Russian propaganda. He also focused on Russia’s attempts to rewrite Ukrainian history.

The secretary paid special attention to highlighting the goals and objectives set by President Zelensky by initiating the Global Peace Summit, set to be held in Switzerland on June 15-16, 2024. According to the official, the event should mark one of the steps on the path to ending the war and forcing Russia to return to the international legal field.

Ukraine seeks a just peace for decades, not its distorted Russian version, Lytvynenko stressed.
