Kamala Harris to lead U.S. delegation at Peace Summit

U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris will represent the country at the inaugural Global Peace Summit in Switzerland, Joe Biden’s Administration has officially confirmed.

That’s according to the White House press service, Ukrinform reports.

"Vice President Kamala Harris will travel to Lucerne, Switzerland on June 15 to participate in the Summit on Peace in Ukraine," the statement reads.

It is emphasized that Harris will underscore the commitment of the Biden-Harris administration to further supporting Ukraine's efforts “to secure a just and lasting peace”.

That peace, the statement adds, must be based on Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as the principles of the UN Charter.

Also, it is reported that Vice President Harris will be joined by White House National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, the Global Peace Summit will be held in Switzerland on June 15-16. So far, 107 nations and international organizations have confirmed participation in the event.
