Presidents Joe Biden and Volodymyr Zelensky will meet on the sidelines of the G7 summit in Italy on Thursday, June 13, and hold a joint press conference.

White House national security spokesman John Kirby announced this during an off-the-record briefing on Tuesday, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"On Thursday, President Biden and President Zelensky will sit down to discuss our strong support for Ukraine now and into the future. And following that meeting, both leaders, President Biden and President Zelensky, will participate in a news conference," Kirby said.

He added that at the G7 meeting later this week, U.S. commitment to Ukraine would continue to be right up front and clear.

"We will take bold steps to show Mr. Putin that time is not on his side and that he cannot outlast us, as we support Ukraine's fight for freedom," Kirby said.

He also noted that the Russian offensive not only threatens democracy in Ukraine but actually affects security across the European continent.

Kirby also said that new steps would be announced at the G7 summit to unlock the value of the immobilized Russian sovereign assets to benefit Ukraine and to help them recover from the destruction that Putin's army has caused.

Presidents Zelensky and Biden met last week in France during celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings in Normandy.
