President Zelensky, Pope Francis talk consequences of Russian aggression

President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine discussed with Pope Francis the consequences of Russian aggression against Ukraine, Russian air terror, and the challenging situation of Ukraine’s energy sector.

That’s according to the president’s post on Facebook, Ukrinform reports.

"During a visit to Italy, I met with Pope Francis. I thanked His Holiness for his prayers for peace in Ukraine, spiritual closeness to our people and humanitarian aid for our citizens," Zelensky wrote.

The parties discussed the consequences of Russian aggression against Ukraine, Russian aerial terror and the difficult situation in the energy sector. They also talked about the Peace Formula, the role of the Holy See in establishing a just and lasting peace for Ukraine, and expectations from the Global Peace Summit.

"We appreciate the participation of the Vatican in the Summit and the efforts aimed at bringing peace closer, in particular the return of Ukrainian children abducted by Russia," Zelensky emphasized.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, while in Italy, Zelensky met with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss the development of bilateral relations and preparations for the Global Peace Summit.
