All parts of world represented at summit – Zelensky
President Volodymyr Zelensky said this in a statement to the media, which he delivered together with President of the Swiss Confederation Viola Amherd, Ukrinform reports.
“All parts of the world, all continents, different nations, both large and small geographically, and every political pole of our world—Latin America, the Middle East and Asia, Africa, Europe, the Pacific, Australia, North America—are all represented at the summit. The views, the ideas and the leadership of each nation are equally important to us, and whatever is agreed upon at the Summit today will be part of the peacemaking process and the restoration of the UN Charter’s full force that we all need. I believe we will see history being made here at the Summit,” said Zelensky.
He stressed that Ukraine managed to unite 101 countries and international organizations here in Switzerland. Zelensky noted that some other countries and their leaders also showed interest in the Summit and responded to the peacemaking impulse of the Peace Formula. Even if they are not here today, Ukraine has succeeded in returning the world to the idea that collective efforts can stop war and establish a just peace and this idea will definitely work because the world has power, Zelensky emphasized.
He recalled that the Peace Formula was presented at the G20 meeting in Indonesia, followed by four meetings of national security advisers, "and each meeting brought the world closer to the first peace summit."
As Ukrinform reported earlier, the first Peace Summit started today, June 15, in the Swiss resort of Bürgenstock. The summit participants will discuss nuclear security, food security, and the humanitarian dimension - the exchange of prisoners and the return of abducted Ukrainian children. The results of the summit will be shared with Russia.
