Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew signs communique of Peace Summit

The Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople has joined the signatories of the joint communique of the Peace Summit that was held in Switzerland last weekend.

That's according to the website of the Swiss Federal Council, Ukrinform reports.

The Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople, headed by Patriarch Bartholomew, appeared in the list of countries that supported the joint communique.

Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew took part in the Peace Summit and said maintaining peace was a common duty and mission.

The Summit on Peace in Ukraine was held on June 15-16 in the Swiss resort of Burgenstock. The summit participants discussed nuclear security, food security and the humanitarian dimension - the exchange of prisoners and the return of kidnapped Ukrainian children.

The final document was signed by 80 states and 4 organizations. The two countries later withdrew their signatures.

The communique remains open for accession by any nation.

The results of the Peace Summit will be handed over to Russian representatives.
