The EU ambassadors have agreed on the 14th package of sanctions against Russia in response to its aggression against Ukraine.

The Belgian Presidency of the Council of the EU announced this on the social media platform X, Ukrinform reports.

“This package provides new targeted measures and maximises the impact of existing sanctions by closing loopholes,” the post reads.

As reported, officials from 27 EU countries have been discussing the new sanctions package for over a month. The new measures include a ban on the transshipment of Russian liquefied natural gas (LNG) and a plan to hold EU operators liable for sanctions violations by subsidiaries and partners in third countries. Reuters, citing EU diplomats, wrote that Germany allegedly blocked the package, despite the fact that a clause that Berlin considered problematic was removed.
