Peace Summit created prerequisites for ending Russia's language of ultimatums - Kuleba

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said this on Ukrainian television.

 "With the peace summit, we created the prerequisites for Russia to conduct negotiations not in the language of ultimatums, but in good faith, so that these negotiations do not take place at the expense of concessions from Ukraine," he said.

Kuleba recalled that from 2014 to 2022 there were 200 rounds of negotiations with the Russian Federation in various formats - both in the Normandy and Minsk formats. According to him, Russia was everywhere "destroying the process: people talked for hours, but in the end nothing came of it."

"The Russian Federation did so that the path to peace was through the concessions made by Ukraine. We have learned this lesson. And now we do not repeat these mistakes. We formed a coalition, and Russia saw that its ultimatums do not work, that Ukraine enjoys the support of not only Europe and America - there are many more countries on our side," he said.

He added that the Summit was a step towards peace, but Ukraine has a long way to go.

The Global Peace Summit initiated by Ukraine was held in Switzerland on June 15-16. More than 100 countries and organizations from around the world took part in the summit. It focused on issues set out in the Ukrainian Peace Formula, including nuclear and food security, as well as the return of children and other humanitarian issues.
