Explaining complex things in simple words: Kuleba's visit to China; persecution of Ukrainian Orthodoxy; energy infrastructure support

FOREIGN MINISTER'S VISIT TO CHINA

On July 23–25, the visit of the Ukrainian Foreign Affairs Minister, Dmytro Kuleba, to China is continuing.

• Dmytro Kuleba's visit to Beijing was made upon the invitation of his Chinese counterpart, Wang Yi. Ukraine is ready for dialogue with all potential mediators in achieving peace.
• The main topic of the discussion will be “the search for ways to stop Russian aggression and China's possible role in achieving a stable and just peace.”
• China and Ukraine are interested in the rule of international law and compliance with the principles of non-proliferation and non-use of nuclear weapons.
• Beijing has exclusive levers of influence over Moscow, so its position can become decisive in stopping Russian aggression.
• We hope for the participation of the People's Republic of China in the next Peace Summit. 

PERSECUTION OF UKRAINIAN ORTHODOXY

The Russian administration is dismantling the building of the Holy Cross Church of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine in Yevpatoria, temporarily occupied territory of Crimea.

• Russia hypocritically speculates on the protection of Orthodoxy and, at the same time, destroys objectionable Orthodox churches in the temporarily occupied territories.
• The occupiers illegally took away or destroyed all religious buildings of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine in Crimea (the Holy Cross Church in Yevpatoria was the last one), depriving the Ukrainian Orthodox community of opportunities to meet their religious needs.
• The occupation administration's actions violate the articles of the Geneva and Hague Conventions for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict.
• Russia carries out a policy of genocide against the Ukrainian national community in the temporarily occupied territories, subjecting the Ukrainian language, culture, and church to bans and repression.
• The prosecutor's office of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol have started criminal proceedings on the fact of the illegal destruction of the temple. 

ENERGY INFRASTRUCTURE SUPPORT

Preparation for the autumn-winter period is continuing; its priority is to strengthen and protect the energy system of Ukraine.

• We are grateful to European partners for their contribution to strengthening Ukraine's energy sustainability.
• Further strengthening of air defense to protect the energy infrastructure from Russian air attacks remains necessary.
• Rapid repair and restoration of power generation and distribution facilities is a key capability in the face of Russian missile terror.
• We are working on the decentralization of the energy system and installation of cogeneration plants.
• Ukraine needs to increase imported energy capacity from the EU from 1.7 to 2.2 GW.
