Macron warns Iran against further fueling Russia's war in Ukraine
That’s according to a statement issued by the Elysée Palace, Ukrinform reports citing Le Figaro.
"The President of the Republic warned against Tehran's continued support for Russia's war of aggression in Ukraine," notes the readout of Macron’s call with Pezeshkian.
Macron also told Iran's president-elect his country must prevent an escalation in Lebanese-Israeli relations by putting to a halt any assistance for actors who destabilize the region.
The French president "expressed his very deep concern about the growing tension between Israel and Lebanon, especially after the deadly attack carried out by Hezbollah," the report said. It emphasizes that "a new war will have devastating consequences for the region."
According to Macron, France is ready to work with the new president of Iran to facilitate the resolution of all disputes and promote security and stability, while Iran must stop the development of its nuclear program and comply with the demands of international organizations.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, Iran threatens "serious consequences" for Israel in the event of an attack on Lebanon. If Israel strikes Lebanon, will indeed face serious consequences, Pazeshkian told Macron.
