Explaining complex things in simple words: recap of Zelensky’s U.S. visit, deep strikes into Russia, second anniversary of illegal annexation

RECAP OF THE PRESIDENT’S VISIT TO THE UNITED STATES

Last week, Volodymyr Zelensky has visited the United States with the aim of strengthening Ukraine's position in the struggle for a just peace.

 During the visit, the President of Ukraine had a meeting with all key U.S. politicians: Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, and Donald Trump, with U.S. Congress members; and also spoke three times from the UN podium.

 Important meetings with the leaders of the leading countries in Europe, Asia, and Africa took place on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly with the aim of promoting the Ukrainian Peace Formula.

 The Plan for Victory presented by Zelensky in the U.S. received a lively response. Its discussion will continue during the following meetings with Ukrainian partners.

 The United States announced additional military aid for Ukraine, and the G7 leaders and partner countries adopted a Joint Declaration of Support for Recovery and Reconstruction of Ukraine, which was joined by more than 30 countries as well as the EU.

DEEP STRIKES INTO RUSSIA

The President of Ukraine announced that the authorisation to strike military targets on the Russian territory with the Western long-range weapons is imminent.

 Ukraine has completed its “homework” in preparing the rationale for strikes. The next step is expected from the Western partners.

 The hesitancy of partner states on the issue of long-range weapons is the result of the Russian global blackmail policy. Moscow seeks to restrain the West's determination to support Ukraine by fuelling fears of an “escalation”.

 The so-called “red lines of the Kremlin” are a fiction, and threats of “nuclear escalation” are a bluff. Ukraine proved this in practice, in particular, with the operation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kursk oblast and strikes on military facilities on the territory of the Russian Federation with its own weapons.

 Permitting Western weapons to strike deep into the Russian territory will significantly strengthen Ukraine's defence capabilities, worsen the positions of the aggressor state, and thus bring the end of the war based on a just peace closer.

SECOND ANNIVERSARY OF THE ILLEGAL ANNEXATION

On September 30, 2022, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin has declared the annexation of four occupied regions of Ukraine: Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia.

 The illegal annexation of the sovereign territories of Ukraine is a brutal violation of the UN Charter and an encroachment on the fundamental principles of the established international order.

 The world does not recognize the Russian Federation's claims to sovereignty over the occupied territories of Ukraine, including Crimea.

 Ukraine will never agree to cede its territories to an aggressor. Any offers of peace in exchange for territory are meaningless and will be rejected by Kyiv and Ukrainian society.

 The Russian occupation has brought terror, violations of civil rights and freedoms, and economic ruin to Ukrainian lands – this is exactly the “showcase” of the so-called “Russian world” that Moscow is trying to export.

 Ukraine is doing everything possible in the diplomatic and military spheres to return its territories and free its citizens from occupation.
