NATO defense ministers this week to discuss progress in Ukraine aid
That’s according to Patrick Turner, Senior NATO Representative in Ukraine, who spoke in an interview with Ukrinform.
"We are tracking that (prorgress on NATO defense aid to Ukraine – ed.) very closely, and I'm sure that and other commitments in key priority areas will be reviewed at the meeting of NATO Defense Ministers in Brussels, which Defense Minister Umerov will attend, within the framework of a meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Council. As we know, the Ramstein meeting had to be rescheduled. The parties will be reviewing where we are on the air defence systems, and other priorities," Turner said.
The diplomat said that both at the Washington summit and since then, the Allies agreed to do “a significant list of things” through joint efforts. "At the very top of the list drawn in Washington was the commitment by Allies collectively to provide this year a minimum of EUR 40 billion worth of military assistance," the diplomat said.
He recalled that the NATO Security and Training Assistance Center for Ukraine (NSATU) is being launched in Wiesbaden to coordinate aid to Ukraine, expressing hope that the Center would become fully operational in the coming months.
"The Secretary General has made it very clear that, firstly, we need to deliver on what's promised but, secondly, we need to do more, do it faster if we can," Turner emphasized.
As reported, President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine last week presented the Victory Plan to the leaders of the major European powers and emphasized that joint efforts must be taken as soon as possible, in the coming months.
Zelensky also thanked all partners in the Balkans and across South East Europe for their support of the Peace Formula and the format of the international Summit on Peace in Ukraine.
