South Korea's foreign ministry summoned Russia's ambassador to Seoul on Monday to “express regret” over North Korea's deployment of its soldiers to fight Russia's war against Ukraine.

That’s according to Yonhap, Ukrinform reports.

According to officials, Foreign Minister Kim Hong-kyun delivered the government's position during a meeting with Russian Ambassador Georgy Zinoviev.

Zinoviev confirmed to Yonhap that he had met with Kim Hong-kyung, but declined to answer further questions.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, the National Intelligence Service in South Korea stated that the North Korean regime had decided to send 12,000 soldiers to support Russia’s war effort against Ukraine.

This is about four brigades worth of manpower, including special operations forces.

On October 21, the UN Security Council will meet to discuss the security situation in Ukraine, related to N. Korea, Iran, and China’s military support to Russia.
