UK at UN: Ukraine no testing ground for new Russian weapons

The United Kingdom has strongly condemned at the UN Security Council Russia's use of an experimental intermediate-range ballistic missile against the Ukrainian city of Dnipro, calling the Kremlin's actions reckless and accusing Russia of deliberately prolonging the war.

The UK's Permanent Representative to the UN, Barbara Woodward, made the statement at an UNSC meeting on Wednesday, Ukrinform's own correspondent reports.

"Last week, it fired an intermediate range ballistic missile onto Dnipro. Ukraine is not a testing ground for new weapons," the UK diplomat stressed.

She also pointed to Russia's intensified attacks involving indiscriminate glide bombs against Ukrainian cities, as well as launching deliberate strikes on Ukraine's energy infrastructure. Woodward emphasized that this is a manifestation of war crimes by Russia, which puts the lives of millions of Ukrainians at serious risk during cold winter months.

“I could go on, but this pattern of reckless activity by Russia serves only to prolong the war and the suffering of Ukrainian people, whilst posing serious risks to international peace and security,” the British diplomat emphasized.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, during a meeting of the UN Security Council on Wednesday, the United States warned the Council of the intention of the North Korean regime to hand Russia more ballistic missiles, in addition to the more than a hundred already delivered, which the Russian Federation has already used against Ukrainian cities.
