The fall of Bashar Assad's regime in Syria serves as a stark reminder that Vladimir Putin always betrays those who depend on his support.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said this in a post on X, Ukrinform reports.

"Assad has fallen. This is how it has always been and will always be for dictators who bet on Putin. He always betrays those who rely on him. The main goal now is to restore security in Syria and effectively protect its people from violence," he said.

Sybiha stressed the need to make every effort to stabilize the region and ensure inclusive political dialogue in Syria for the sake of effectively functioning state institutions.

"We express our readiness to pave the way to restoring relations in the future and reaffirm support for the Syrian people," he said.

On December 8, the head of the National Coalition of Syrian Revolution and Opposition Forces, Hadi al-Bahra, announced the fall of Bashar al-Assad's regime, marking the end of his 24-year rule over Syria.
