Russia fails to protect Assad regime due to heavy losses in Ukraine war - Biden

“Russia’s support for Assad also failed. That’s because Ukraine, backed by American allies, put up a wall against the invading Russian forces, inflicting massive damage on them,” he said.
Biden emphasized that because of this, Russia was unable to protect its “main ally in the Middle East”.
The head of the White House also noted that Iran and the Hezbollah group were also unable to help the Assad regime due to their weakened positions.
“Iran tried two times to attack Israel. The United States has built a coalition of countries to directly defend Israel and help defeat those attacks. All this made it impossible for Iran and Hezbollah to prop up the Assad regime,” Biden said.
According to the president, this is the first time that neither Russia, Iran, nor Hezbollah have been able to protect the brutal regime in Syria.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, the head of the National Coalition of the Syrian Revolution and Opposition Forces, Hadi Al-Bahra, announced on Sunday the fall of the regime of Bashar al-Assad, who had ruled Syria for 24 years.
According to media reports, Syrian dictator Bashar Assad is currently in the Russian capital, Moscow, along with his family.
