Zelensky to PM of Estonia: Permanent status in Joint Expeditionary Force is important for Ukraine
According to an Ukrinform correspondent, Zelensky said this during a meeting with the Estonian prime minister with the press.
“We are invited to participate in the JEF (United Kingdom Joint Expeditionary Force). It is very important for us to have a permanent status. And I want to discuss this with the Prime Minister of Estonia today. We also addressed these signals to the Prime Minister of Great Britain, Keir Starmer,” he said.
Zelensky noted that at the JEF summit scheduled for mid-December, his address will be in an online format.
As reported, the Joint Expeditionary Force is a multinational armed force established in 2015. The force is led by the United Kingdom and includes Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, the Netherlands, Norway, and Iceland. If necessary, the EUFOR can deploy more than 10,000 troops to conduct humanitarian missions or high-intensity combat operations.
JEF members invited Ukraine as an observer to their exercises in 2024 and 2025.
