During a meeting in Kyiv, Ukrainian Parliament Speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk and Friedrich Merz, the leader of the German democratic opposition and chancellor candidate from the conservative CDU/CSU bloc, discussed the creation of an international compensation mechanism.

Stefanchuk wrote this in a post on Facebook, Ukrinform reports.

"First of all, I thanked Germany and the German people for the enormous support that our country is receiving. It is extremely important for Ukraine that the level of support from Germany does not decrease, especially now, at a critical moment in our struggle. Therefore, I called for increased funding for military assistance to Ukraine for the next year," Stefanchuk said.

The interlocutors also discussed the creation of an international compensation mechanism. According to Stefanchuk, it is important that Russian leader Vladimir Putin pays for the war he has unleashed.

The parties focused on the issue of countering Russian propaganda, which remains a serious challenge, Stefanchuk noted.

"I stressed that Ukraine is determined to win. The President of Ukraine presented the Victory Plan, a tool for implementing the Peace Formula. Its goal is to make our country strong enough to end the war," the Verkhovna Rada chairman noted.

The parties discussed in detail all five points of the Victory Plan.

"I paid special attention to the first point - the invitation to Ukraine to join NATO. The invitation will be a strong geopolitical signal to the world, and first of all to the aggressor and its allies," Stefanchuk stressed.

As reported by Ukrinform, on December 9, Friedrich Merz, the leader of the German democratic opposition and a candidate for chancellor from the conservative CDU/CSU bloc, arrived in Ukraine. In Kyiv, Merz said that his political force supports the provision of long-range weapons to Ukraine that will be able to achieve military objectives in Russia.
