Zelensky says detailed peace agreements can only be reached between him and Trump

Ukrinform
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has stated that while contacts between his team and representatives of U.S. President Donald Trump are ongoing, detailed peace agreements can only be achieved in direct negotiations between the presidents of the U.S. and Ukraine.

He stated this in an interview with The Associated Press, according to Ukrinform:

"We have had several contacts at the level of his special representative, as well as Keith Kellogg, Michael Waltz, and the U.S. Vice President. There was also a contact with my chief of staff. Some discussions have taken place. They were quite positive, but they were still about general matters. More detailed agreements can only be made between me and President Trump. I believe this is very important. More work needs to be done on this," Zelensky said.

He said that Ukraine seeks a just peace but added that "different perspectives on fairness exist." "It is important to discuss this," he added.

"I understand that we share a common desire to end this war. Ukrainians want this more than anyone else in the world because the war is happening here, the losses are ours, our people, our independence. All of this is constantly under threat, under missile attacks. You know all this. That's why more contacts, more intensive work, and the development of an effective plan are necessary. Only then can we move forward with diplomatic negotiations with the enemy, with Putin, with the Russians," Zelensky said.

Earlier, Trump's special envoy for Ukraine and Russia, Keith Kellogg, told Fox News that Trump's team has a "solid plan" to end the fighting and initiate peace talks between Russia and Ukraine.
