Zelensky: talk with Trump not enough to formulate peace plan

A lengthy discussion between the Presidents of Ukraine and the United States was not enough to formulate a detailed peace plan.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated this during a press briefing at the Munich Security Conference, as reported by Ukrinform.

"Regarding President Trump, we had a conversation, a long conversation, a sufficient conversation to discuss some details. But it was not enough to formulate a plan —definitely not enough. We hear each other," Zelensky stated.

Despite this, he characterized the conversation as positive.

"There were many questions. We discussed the situation at the front. We hear different reports about the numbers — how many millions they (the Russians) have, what their real losses are. Sometimes our figures differ… But that’s a technical issue. The main question is — what do we do next?" Zelensky emphasized.

He also noted that during his meeting with U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance, he received strong signals from the American side.

"The American side sent strong signals. Though I must say, they are varied. I can only comment on what I hear as a president listening to another president. Regarding security matters, I know we are set to meet with the U.S. Vice President today. I want to discuss this with him. His signals were strong," Zelensky added.

Earlier, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer reiterated that peace in Ukraine must be on Kyiv's terms, underscoring the need to strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities.
