President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has arrived in Ireland to meet with Prime Minister Micheál Martin.

That’s according to RTE, Ukrinform reports.

Zelensky, who was greeted by Micheál Martin at the airport, said that he was delighted to be in Ireland and to meet the Taoiseach. He also thanked the Irish people for the support they have offered Ukrainian citizens who have been forced to flee from conflict.

The two leaders are currently meeting in the VIP lounge at Shannon Airport.

RTE correspondent Cathy Halloran published a video of the meeting.

Martin earlier cancelled a scheduled visit to Belfast to attend the meeting with Zelensky.

At today's meeting at the airport, Martin is expected to reaffirm Ireland's support for Ukraine. Earlier this week, Martin promised to increase funding for humanitarian aid to Ukraine.

As reported by Ukrinform, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky stopped briefly in Shannon on his way to the United States where he is due to meet President Donald Trump.

Donald Trump has officially confirmed that he plans to meet with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky this Friday, February 28, to sign an agreement with the Ukrainian side.
