Trump to talk to Putin on Tue to discuss ending war in Ukraine
He made this statement to journalists aboard Air Force One during a flight from Florida to Washington, Reuters reports, as cited by Ukrinform.
According to Trump, a lot of work was done over the weekend. "We want to see if we can bring that war to an end. Maybe we can, maybe we can't, but I think we have a very good chance," Trump said.
In response to a question about the concessions being considered in the ceasefire negotiations, Trump mentioned said: ""We'll be talking about land. We'll be talking about power plants."
"I think we have a lot of it already discussed very much by both sides, Ukraine and Russia. We're already talking about that, dividing up certain assets," the U.S. President added.
Trump noted that a lot of work had been done on this issue over the weekend, which he spent in Florida, where he has a residence.
As reported by Ukrinform, following the U.S.-Ukrainian meeting in Jeddah (Saudi Arabia), Ukraine expressed its readiness to accept the U.S. proposal for an immediate 30-day temporary ceasefire, provided that Russia simultaneously accepts and implements it.
Putin did not reject the idea outright but noted that there are "nuances" related to several conditions from Moscow.
President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Russia is doing everything to prevent a ceasefire; stopping the aggressor requires pressure, not negotiations.
