EU Ministers pressure Hungary over blocking Ukraine's EU integration – Polish MFA
Pawel Wroński, Spokesperson for the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated this in a comment to Ukrinform.
"Negotiations are ongoing, and it is positive that during the recent discussion of the EU Foreign Affairs Council, many ministers pressured the Hungarian Foreign Minister, pointing out that bilateral issues, which Ukraine has declared readiness to resolve, should not block the discussion on the first cluster, which should be opened solely based on Ukraine meeting objective criteria," Wroński noted.
He added that Warsaw is working on overcoming Hungary's resistance, stressing that this is a "very important issue" for Poland.
As Ukrinform reported, Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski stated after the March 17 EU Foreign Ministers' meeting that Hungary is blocking the start of Ukraine's EU membership negotiations.
Earlier, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, speaking to journalists in Warsaw, said that Ukraine is considering various options to resolve Hungary's blockade of the accession talks and is counting on the potential involvement of European diplomacy to break the deadlock.
