Mathernová comments on work of G7 Ambassadors in Ukraine

This was stated by the Ambassador of the European Union to Ukraine Katarína Mathernová, who spoke with the media in Kyiv on Friday, March 21, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

I can confirm that the coordination and collaboration among the G7 Ambassadors in Kyiv is very much ongoing. We continue with our regular coordination meetings, we continue with our joint outreach to various stakeholders. There was a meeting of our sharepass with the Civil Society just recently, for example,” the ambassador said in response to a question about the current activities of the Group.

Maternova added that the G7 ambassadors continue to coordinate cooperation with stakeholders and partners on the Ukrainian side.

“At our meeting two days ago, we discussed in detail a debrief and results of the G7 meeting in Canada’s Charlevoix, which ended with the joint communique. So, yes, I can confirm it's ongoing, and Canada is leading this year,” Mathernová concluded.

As reported, U.S. President Donald Trump had previously ordered to put on pause all U.S. military aid to Ukraine in order to force Kyiv to demonstrate a “good faith” commitment to peace. After the meeting of the Ukrainian and American delegations in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, arms supplies and intelligence sharing were resumed.

Relations between Canada and the US have also deteriorated significantly this year due to the trade war initiated by President Trump. In response to the 25% U.S. tariffs on Canadian imports, Canada introduced mirror tariffs on U.S. goods worth over $42 billion.
