A high-level meeting of world leaders has begun in Paris to discuss ongoing support for Ukraine in resisting Russian aggression and achieving a just and lasting peace.

That's according to the official website of the President of Ukraine, Ukrinform reports.

The summit brings together the Presidents of Ukraine, France, Lithuania, Finland, and Cyprus, the acting President of Romania, the Chancellor of Germany, and the Prime Ministers of the United Kingdom, Belgium, Bulgaria, Denmark, Spain, Croatia, Estonia, Greece, Ireland, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Luxembourg, Norway, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, the Czech Republic, Slovenia, and Sweden. Also attending are the Vice President of Turkey, the Presidents of the European Council and European Commission, and the Secretary General of NATO. Additionally, Austria, Australia, and Canada are represented at the ambassadorial level.

The leaders will focus on ensuring sustained military and economic support for Ukraine, strengthening its armed forces and defense industry, and exploring security guarantees for the country.

Discussions will also cover the peace negotiation process and the initial steps needed to achieve a ceasefire. One of the key topics on the agenda is the potential deployment of security guarantee forces in Ukraine as part of a future peace settlement with U.S. backing.

French President Emmanuel Macron earlier stated during a joint press conference with President Volodymyr Zelensky that France and the UK supported the idea of a peacekeeping contingent in Ukraine. However, this force would not be deployed directly on the front lines -- instead, ceasefire monitoring in conflict zones could be carried out by another contingent, possibly under UN supervision.
