Trump on missile production license for Ukraine: We will consider this issue
U.S. President Donald Trump made this statement to reporters on the sidelines of the G7 summit in France, according to Ukrinform’s correspondent on the ground.
He noted that Ukraine’s desire to build American missiles in Europe would be considered.
Donald Trump said that they would like to be able to do that and added that the issue would be considered.
The U.S. president also reiterated that he had “very good talks” with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin, adding that he wants the war against Ukraine to end.
At the same time, he declined to answer whether he considers Putin more responsible for the conflict.
The White House chief said that he did not want to comment on the matter because he was trying to resolve it, and that doing so would not make things any easier.
He also stated that the United States is considering sanctions against Russia: “We’re looking into it; we’re seeing how sharply oil prices are falling. They really are falling.”
As reported by Ukrinform, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Donald Trump had responded positively to his request for missiles for the Patriot systems, but had not publicly confirmed a final decision.
“First of all, he was very positive about the fact that they can help us more with missiles. And this is truly a major challenge, because production isn’t as high as our needs. Production takes place in the United States,” Zelensky noted after meeting with Trump on the sidelines of the G7 summit in Evian, France.
According to him, during the conversation he also raised the issue of granting licenses to manufacture the relevant missiles: “I brought up the topic of licenses. I addressed this with President Trump. We need licenses to produce missiles,” he said, adding that Ukraine is working on this issue and has already had numerous contacts with manufacturing companies.
