Over 800 Lenin statues dismantled in Ukraine

More than 800 statues of Lenin have been already dismantled in Ukraine and many of them have been "de-communized" arbitrarily.
Director of the Ukrainian Institute of National Memory Volodymyr Vyatrovych said this in an interview with Ukrainian Channel 5.
"More than 800 statues of Lenin have been already dismantled in Ukraine," he said.
Vyatrovych rejected accusations that the process of decommunization gave excuses for destroying the artworks and stressed that the current law on decommunization made it possible to preserve such objects.
However, as he noted, "the spontaneous decommunization in Ukraine, which began even before the adoption of the law, continues."
