Ukrainian president signs law on education
The adoption of the law will help conduct a comprehensive education reform that will improve the quality of education and the competitiveness of the young generation in the labor market. It will provide real steps to include Ukraine in the European educational space.
"This is one of the most important reforms, because the future of the country does not depend so much on any other reform as it does on education reform," Poroshenko said.
The president said that the law raises the role of the state Ukrainian language in the educational process. The law provides equal opportunities for all, because it guarantees each graduate a high level of language proficiency necessary for a successful career in Ukraine.
At the same time, the head of state emphasized the importance of strict observance of the humanitarian rights of national minorities residing in Ukraine.
"Ukraine has demonstrated and will continue to demonstrate such an attitude to the rights of national minorities, which meets our international obligations, is in line with European standards and is an example for neighboring countries," Poroshenko said.
The president also ordered to the Foreign Ministry and the Education and Science Ministry to hold necessary consultations with European partners, including with the Council of Europe.
